Southwest’s 2015 Coaching Staff


10’s/11’s:    Rebecca Rozman will be the head coach for the 11’s in 2015, she is in her second year with us after assisting with our 15’s last year. Originally from Austintown, OH, I played volleyball through middle school, high school and JO volleyball for 7 years. Through college,  worked with the University of Cincinnati Volleyball team assisting with practices and games; coached Gilmour Academy Middle School as the assistant for the 2013 season.  Amy Paulozzi, bio below will also assist Rebecca.


12's :   Tanya Wasuk will be head coach for 12's in 2015, her second year with SWVC.  Tanya comes with many years of experience, has played volleyball for over 25 years; played USAV volleyball at Kent State; currently plays Women's indoor, co-ed indoor and sand; has coached CYO for 4 years; awarded the 2011 sportsmanship award; and awarded the Bruce Yeager award in '12.  In 2014, her 11’s were ranked 21st.


13A’s :      Mathias Payne who is in his 7th year with Southwest; Matt played in high school volleyball at St. Ed’s, and has coached 3 years for Hearts High School; has also coached at Midview, and local younger CYO teams. Matt’s 13’s were ranked 6th out of 183 teams in 2009, and his team was 3rd out of 171 teams in 2010. In 2011 his team finished 5th in the state and 5th at the NEQ qualifier; 2012’s 16 American team finished 6th out of 58 teams. Matt coached our 10's and 11's in 2013 , and is currently coaching at Clearview  high school. Matt’s 12’s were ranked 18th in 2014.


13R’s:   Ashley Harker, in her first year with us, played JO volleyball for 7 years, both at the American and National level; three year varsity starter at Strongsville High School (DS / Libero). Assistant coach on the Southwest 17 National team (2012) and Assistant coach on the Southwest 16 American team (2014). Is a certified official in the Ohio Valley Region / USA volleyball.   Currently a Junior in college at Kent State University with a dual major in Sports Management and Accounting.  Ashley will be assisted by TR Harker (see bio below)


14A’s :  Joe Ortenzi & Kevin Laughlin will team up to coach our 14A team. Joe Ortenzi, in his fourth year with SWVC, originally from Pennsylvania, has been coaching volleyball for the past 9 years. He lived in West Palm Beach, Florida for eight of those years where he coached middle school and club volleyball. In 2011, his club team (All Star Volleyball 14's) went 16-4, winning two gold medals and 3 silver medals. He is currently coaching at Gilmour academy. Joe coached our 15 American elite team; in 2014. Kevin is in his 4th year coaching for SWVC, and is  currently the assistant varsity coach for Brunswick high school.   Kevin assisted our 17A team in 2011, which were #1 ranked in the state; in 2013 his 12's were ranked 8th out of 163 teams, and last year his 13’s finished ranked 18th.


14R's :  Stephanie Annes :  In her 2nd year with SWVC, graduated from Brunswick, where she played volleyball;  and from Akron University with my bachelors in Child Development and am currently a preschool teacher. This will be my 3rd year coaching volleyball; coached for MCVBC for 2yrs and coached at Buckeyes high school JV and now is coaching Brunswick JV. I love volleyball, I love coaching and I love learning something new every day from my players and volleyball experience.  Her 13’s were ranked 2nd out of 202 regional teams in 2014, with 4 Gold wins, and 3 gold runner-ups.



15’s Elite American: Robin McQuade is in her 7th year with SWVC, she is an avid adult player -30 + years experience of playing High School, Adult Women, & Co-Ed Teams Indoor & Sand; 8 years coaching Lake Erie Elite, Ages 10-18; 5 years coaching North Olmsted Middle School; 5 years NO Rec. Center, Volleyball Clinic & Leagues; currently O falls freshman coach; Robin’s 13R team was ranked #1 in the state in 2009, and her 14A team was also ranked #1 in the state in 2010; her 12’s were 8th in the state last year, and were Gold runner up champs at JVA Pre qualifier in Kentucky; her 14’s were 3rd in the state last year, with 2 gold wins, and 5 Gold runner-ups.



15’s Elite American:   Debbie Hall – in her 6th year with SWVC; Brooklyn High School Varsity Coach ; Maverick Volleyball Coach 2006-2010; Brooklyn High School JV Head Coach & Varsity Assistant Coach (2007-2009) ;Garfield High School, JV Head Coach & Varsity Assistant Coach (2006); Director of St. Thomas More CYO Volleyball Program for over 12 years; over 25 years experience coaching middle school through high school levels. Her 17A team finished 5th in the state in 2011, and her 17A team finished 4th in the state in 2012.  In 2013, her 18’s finished 7th in the state with two gold wins.



16’s Elite TJ Shousesecond year with swvc, Baldwin Wallace University assistant coach last year,former Head Women's Volleyball Coach at Tiffin University ; Assistant Volleyball Coach at Slippery Rock University for eight seasons . Shouse served one season as the top assistant under SRU head coach after being the program's graduate assistant in 2003 and 2004. He served the previous five seasons as a student assistant coach. . A native of Erie and graduate of McDowell High School, Shouse played four seasons of varsity volleyball in high school. At The Rock, he played five seasons of men's club volleyball and was an integral part of a Rock team that earned a No. 16 national ranking in 2001-02; TJ’s 15’s were ranked 13th in 2014. Amy Paulozzi will also assist TJ, bio below.


16’s Elite:  Paul Kearns – is in his 4th year with SWVC; Magnificat’s varsity assisitant coach -past two years, freshman coach for 7 years, an avid adult player,  CYO coach for many years; his 18 R team in 2012 finished #1 in the state; winning 3 Gold’s; last year his 17 elite team  finished ranked 4th in state.  In 2014, his 18’s  did very well finishing ranked 2nd in the state out of 83 teams, Gold runner up at the Indy qualifier out of 80 teams, President Cup champion and earned a bid to play in the National championship in Minnesota.



17’s Elite:TR Harker is in his sixth year with Southwest; is currently the Assistant Varsity Coach at Strongsville High School and is in his 11th year of coaching JO volleyball. In 2009, TR coached a 12s team to a National Bid and an overall finish of 23rd in the country. TR has also coached CYO for St. J&J and has served as the 7th grade head coach at Center middle school. TR has been playing A / AA volleyball for over 20 years and currently he is the libero, and team captain, on a Men’s AA team. TR is IMPACT, CAP I and ASEP certified and he also works as a certified Official in the Ohio Valley Region of USA Volleyball. In 2010, his 13‘s finished ranked 3rd out of 171 teams.  For 2011 his 14A team finished first in the state with 3 Gold wins. In 2012, his 17 National team finished 9th at both the MHEQ and NEQ national qualifiers; last year his 15's finished 11th in the state. In 2014, his 16’s were ranked first in the state out of 60 teams, 5th place in Gold at the Indy qualifier, North coast power league champion, 4 gold wins, and earned a bid to play in the National championship in Minnesota in June.


17 Elite :  Jim Oblock: in his sixth year with Southwest; has  18 years coaching experience - JO and CYO; currently the  Varsity Coach at Hearts High School; Ten years - Magnificat's softball coach, impact,  virtus, and CPR trained.  Jim coached our 17 American team to a 19th  place finish in 2010.  In 2011 Jim's 15's were 1st in the state, four gold wins and OVR play-in bid champs; for 2012 his 16 American team had a stellar year, winning four Gold’s, finished as Gold runner-up champions at the NEQ qualifier out of  96 teams, were ranked #1 in the state and  finished strong winning the OVR championship at the OVR Championships; in 2013, his team #1 in the state and earned a bid to Nationals in Dallas; 2014’s team was ranked tenth in the state.



 18’s Elite - Gonzalez:    Joe is in his second year coaching for SWVC,  comes with tons of experience.  27 years playing experience (Indoor & Outdoor);3 years USAV; 7 years J.O. Experience with Advance; 7 years Advance Skills clinic Trainer ;Former J.V. Coach Elyria catholic; current Varsity Assistant Lutheran West; Impact, CAP1; avid adult volleyball player; Joe’s 17’s were ranked tenth in 2014.



OTHER staff:

   Loren Paulozzi, who is SWVC’s director, 20+ years JO coaching experience; OVR 18R #1 ranked team 2005, 2006; 17’s #1 in 2007, 2008, 2009; first place 18 regional champions in 2005;  16 American team won OVR championship in 2010, ranked 2nd in state; 16N in 2011 – 9th in state, Gold runner-up champs NEQ qualifier; 2012’s 15N team finished 5th at NEQ National qualifier; Impact, ASEP, and CAP 1 certified, 2013 15’s finished ranked 7th in the state.  In 2014,  his 17's won the OVR Gold championship, gold runner up at the Indy qualifier out of almost 100 teams, President cup champion, 5 gold wins, and finished ranked 2nd in the state.


 Amy Paulozzi-Rubino: Has coached for SWVC for 8 years; Played four years for SJA & 7 years for SWVC. SJA’s freshman coach 2005-09, and Varsity assistant coach 2007& 2010, coached SWVC’s 16’s in 2007, finished 5th place out of 189 teams; 2008 she finished 4th out of 252 teams; . Amy’s 14a team was ranked 1st in 2009; 14 American team finished 3rdin the state in 2010; in 2011 her 14A team finished 10th in the state; her 15A team finished fourth in the OVR in 2012; she is impact & CAP 1 certified. 15’s were ranked 13th in 2014.
