Coach Amy has coached for SWVC for 18 years; Played four years for Saint Joseph Academy, was part of the inaugural SWVC team and played for 7 years; coached at Saint Joseph Academy for 11 years; has coached every age level at SWVC winning OVR championship numerous times, and had ranked team in Ohio on 7 occasions; most recently her 12's were ranked #1 in state in 2020, with seven #1 Gold finishes in a row; for 2021, her 13 National team finished the year ranked 6th in the OVR, 6 Gold wins, two Gold runner ups, and 3rd at Windy National Qualifier, her team also earned a National Bid for USAV championship in Las Vegas. Amy is is CAP1 and Impact certified, and is an Assistant Director for Southwest Volleyball Club.

Coach Ashley is in her 11th year with Southwest. She played JO volleyball for 7 years, both at the American and National level, 2 of these years for Southwest, three-year varsity starter at Strongsville High School (DS / Libero) and is still an avid adult player. Previously she was the JV Volleyball Coach at Strongsville High School for 3 years and worked for 6 years as a certified official in the Ohio Valley Region / USA volleyball. She was an assistant coach for her first two years at Southwest and has spent the past 9 years as a head coach for 13s-17s teams at both the American and National levels. Most recently; in 2020 her 16 National team was ranked top 10 in the state, in 2021 her 17 National team was ranked 10th in the state and earned a bid to play in the USA Volleyball National Tournament, and in 2022 her 15 National team was ranked top 10 in the state also earning a bid to USAV Nationals.

TJ is in his 10th year coaching at Southwest, most recently taking the 17N team to Nationals and earning a 5th place finish in the USA Division.

Coach Debbie is in her 15th year with SWVC; Brooklyn High School Varsity Coach; Maverick Volleyball Coach 2006-2010; Brooklyn High School JV Head Coach & Varsity Assistant Coach (2007-2009); Garfield High School, JV Head Coach & Varsity Assistant Coach (2006); over 26 years’ experience, coaching middle school through high school levels. Her 17A team finished 5th in the state in 2011, her 17A team finished 4th in the state in 2012. In 2013, her 18’s finished 7th in the state with two gold wins; in 2015 her 15's were 15th in the state with 5 Gold finishes; In 2016 her 16’s had 4 Gold finishes and were ranked 30th in the state; in 2017, her 17’s team started season with a 3rd place finish at the JVA Rock event, won the NC Power League, 4 Gold wins for the year, and ended up ranked 2nd in the state, in 2018 finished the season 23rd in the state, and were 5th at the Indy Qualifier; in 2019, her team finished 19th in the state, finishing in the gold in most events.

Coach Lannan is in her 6th year wiht SWVC. In 2022, her 15's team finished 5th place in the OVR with many gold finishes and one tournament win.

Coach Lannan is in her 6th year with SWVC, a graduate of Kent State University with a B.S. in Applied Engineering and currently works as a quality process engineer. She is from New Philadelphia where she played HS volleyball at state ranked Tuscarawas Central Catholic and New Philadelphia High School, primarily as a setter and outside hitter. After playing eight years of JO for multiple clubs, Lannan coached a 14s team for Tuscarawas Volleyball Club in 2014. Lannan assisted with our 14 elite team in 2018, which finished #1 in the state. In 2019, her team finished 35th in the state, finishing in gold numerous times, and played in many 15’s events. In the shortened 2020 season, her 15's team was placed 9th in the OVR. During the 2021 season as 16's coach, her team finished in gold in many events and ended the season at 2nd place in the OVR. In 2022, her 15's team finished 5th place in the OVR with many gold finishes and one tournament win.

Coach Jen is in her 4th year with SWVC and lives in North Olmsted. She played for Mercer Island High school outside of Seattle, Washington where she grew up. She was a three year vasity player going to the state semi finals 2 of those 3 years. When not playing indoors she spent her spare time playing volleyball on the beaches of the Puget Sound. Jen played volleyball at Franciscan University and upon graduation, coached the Franciscan team for two seasons. She has coached CYO for 16 years at all different grade levels and also coached 16's at AVC. During the 2019-2020 season, Jen's 13 American team finished 8th overall. During the 2020-2021 season Jen's 14 National team finished 10th with two second place finishes and three Gold Championships. Six of Jen's eight children are volleyball players and she enjoys sharing her love of the sport.

Coach Kristen played high school volleyball all 4 years at Strongsville High School. Throughout her high school years she was fortunate enough to play JO volleyball at Southwest and AVC both at the American and National levels. She then continued on to play 4 years at Slippery Rock University where she played as a Right Side. She graduated from Slippery Rock in May of 2016. After college she wanted to stick with the game of volleyball and became a certified official in the Ohio Valley Region / USA Volleyball. She is going into her 6th year as an official and has earned her Provisional ranking. This past JO season she coached the 15 Elite team for SWVC.

Coach Courtney has been an assistant coach at SWVC for 10 years and she is looking forward to her 2nd season as a head coach. She started playing and fell in love with volleyball at a very young age (all thanks to her mom being a coach). While in high school, she played for Maverick and MCVBC, mainly as a DS at the American level. Courtney graduated from the University of Akron in 2012 and currently works as a project assistant at a large law firm in downtown Cleveland. She is also going into her 3rd year as the JV coach for Brooklyn High School

This will be Coach Kate’s second season at Southwest Volleyball Club. She played 4 years of high school volleyball at Riverside High School, in Painesville, Ohio. Throughout high school Kate played club at Eastside Cleveland Juniors at the American and National Level. After high school, she attended Ursuline College where she played all 4 years as a setter. She currently holds the school record for assists at Ursuline College as well as a conference record for assists in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Throughout college, Coach Kate has coached several years of club volleyball at both Eastside Cleveland Juniors and Maverick Volleyball Club. Currently, Kate is an Intervention Specialist at Midview High School and serves as their head varsity volleyball coach.

Coach Emily is in her 3rd year coaching at Southwest Volleyball club, previously coaching 12 & 13 Elite. She recently earned her master's degree in technology from Kent State University and works as a Project Engineer at a construction management company. Emily (setter) played 7 years of JO volleyball with 5 of those years being at Southwest. She has played both at the National and American levels and has played on teams that qualified for Nationals. She also played varsity at Strongsville HS, lettering two years. She has coached numerous camps and clinics and remains an avid adult volleyball player.

This is Jane's first year coaching at Southwest. She has coached club volleyball for 8 years, where she led 11- to 14-year-old National & American teams. Jane has also coached 7th & 8th grade volleyball teams in Strongsville ('13-'15) with winning seasons and a championship. She has taught volleyball classes & clinics for 4th-6th & 6th-8th grade players at the Strongsville Recreation Center for 10 years. Jane's volleyball playing background includes 4 years as an outside hitter for Hiram College, and she has played indoor and sand ever since. Jane is also a proud volleyball parent of Kelsey, who played OH for Kent State University & 1 year professionally in Austria.

Alex is in her fourth year with SWVC. Alex is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and is currently a math/science teacher at Garfield Heights middle school. Alex started her volleyball career at Center middle school where she set numerous serving records. She also played JO volleyball at SWVC under Coach TR Harker for 4 years which included multiple tournament championships and top JO rankings. Alex played volleyball at Strongsville and was a three year starter playing back row for the Mustangs, including a regional finalist her junior year. Alex was also all district in softball her senior year. In 2021 her 12U team finished 5th in the OVR championship and was ranked 6th in the state. Her team had five gold tournament championships and a runner up and 3rd place finishes in two top JVA tournaments at Cedar point. She is currently the 7th grade head coach at Strongsville middle school and the varsity assistant coach at Garfield Heights HS.

Coach Tanya is in her 5th year coaching for Southwest. She has 9 years of experience coaching volleyball, 4 years at Southwest coaching 11s, 12s and 13s, and 5 years coaching CYO volleyball. She has coached at many youth volleyball camps and clinics over the years. She remains an avid volleyball player both indoors and on the sand. She started playing volleyball at age 12, played 3 years of Varsity Volleyball for Lorain High School and 4 years of club volleyball at Kent State University.

Coughlin, who is currently the varsity head coach at Gilmour Academy and former associate director for Eastside Cleveland Juniors, joins SWVC with over 26 years of coaching experience.
During those 26 seasons, he had a six-year stint as a volunteer assistant with the Cleveland State University Women's Volleyball program. During his four year tenure with CSU, the Vikings competed in the Horizon League Championship, and earned a NCAA tournament appearance.
After his time at Cleveland State, Coughlin spent 10 seasons at Kenston High School, where he guided the Bombers to an 100 game conference winning streak, 10 conference titles, three district titles, a regional championship, and a 2012 OHSAA Division One final four appearance.
In 2013, Coughlin joined the Gilmour Academy coaching staff as a varsity assistant coach, and in 2015, took over as the head varsity coach. With Coughlin at the helm, Gilmour Academy has won three state titles (2015, 2020 ,2021), eight regional titles, and earned four state runner-up titles, as well as eight OHSAA final four appearances. The Lancers have been crowned OHSVCA Poll Champions three times throughout Coughlin’s career at Gilmour, and he earned the 2020 AVCA Award for earning his 400th career coaching victory during that season.
Coughlin has earned District Coach of the Year ten times, the Ohio Coach of the Year three times, and was awarded the State of Ohio Achievement Award in 2020. Further cementing his volleyball coaching prowess, he currently has a 444-80 record with an .847 win percentage.
Coughlin also serves as OHSVCA (Ohio High School Coaches Association) District Two President.
Cough has been coaching Junior Olympic (JO) volleyball since the beginning of his career, spending most time with Maverick Volleyball Club. He has coached mainly 15.1, 16.1,17.1, and 18.1 levels. In his years as a JO coach, he has attained seven AAU National Runner-Up finishes, and three AAU National Championships!
Coughlin has successfully guided over 76 student-athletes to athletic scholarships at the collegiate level throughout his coaching career.

Coach Kim will be entering her 6th year coaching at Southwest. She has coached 13s, 14s, 15s, 16s and 17s at Southwest. She also is the club director for the Olmsted Falls Volleyball Association, a feeder program for OFHS for 10-12 year olds. Kim is currently the Varsity Assistant Coach at Olmsted Falls High School where she has coached for 15 years. She played volleyball for Olmsted Falls High School and for 2 years at Muskingum College. Kim has two children, Tyler (Kent State University) and Kylee (upcoming senior at Olmsted Falls).

Coach David is in his 8th year with Southwest. David started playing volleyball in the 7th grade and continued through high school. He was a 3-year varsity starter for St. Edward High School as a DS, and is still an active player in adult sand leagues and tournaments. David has 9 years of high school coaching experience. He spent 7 years with St. Joseph Academy, 1 year as an assistant and 6 years as the head coach of the Freshman team. He was then the coach of the Strongsville Freshman team for two years. In his time at Southwest, David has coached 15-17's at both the American and National levels. He led his 15's team to a championship at the MEQ qualifier in the Select division. Most recently he was the assistant for the 15 National teamed that earned a bid to Nationals in Indianapolis.

Coach Mal is in her 2nd year with Southwest on the coaching side of things, but she herself played for the club for 5 years. Coach Mal went to Amherst Steele High School where she played volleyball, basketball, and ran track. She then went on to play 4 more years of volleyball at the collegiate level for The University of Mount Union. She coaches youth volleyball and has coached one year of JO at the 14 American level.

Coach Jack is in his 3rd year assisting at Southwest Volleyball Club. He attended Bowling Green State University (BGSU), where he played intramural volleyball, and is currently finishing up his apprenticeship as a tool and die maker. Jack has been playing adult volleyball for 5 years where he continues to enthusiastically learn more about the sport. He also assists at many SWVC open gyms and clinics.

Gregory Wiemken

Coach Wiemken is in his fourth year with SWVC as an assistant coach for his daughter Alex. He has been coaching for 40 years in many sports including basketball, soccer and football but mostly in baseball and softball. He has coached in many national tournaments and has coached state championship teams in travel ball. In 2021 the 12u SWVC American team finished 5th in the OVR winning five tournaments, placing second once and third twice. He is a foot surgeon in Strongsville, married to Kathy a retired teacher and has two children, Brad, also a podiatrist and Alex who is also a teacher.

Heidi Balicki

Coach Heidi Balicki has been coaching volleyball for 22 years at various levels. She began her coaching career at Brunswick and is currently at North Royalton. Coach Heidi had a .750 winning percentage as a decade plus varsity coach and was Coach of the Year for her Conference and Coach of the Year in the Northeast Ohio District. In the early 1990’s, Coach Heidi formed her own club called ACES which commenced for 9 years. Her volleyball career was put on hold when she became a mother to 3 children, but returned holding a position on the DG Warriors Leadership Team for one year. Coach Balicki then served as an Elite level coach at Ignite for the past 4 years, where she was Coach of the Month for a Quarter and a nominee for Coach of the Year. Heidi spent her early years working at the ¨Yes I Can" camps for all athletic college camps, emphasizing to the athletes positive thinking and encouragement. She was also. asked to participate as a camp coach at various universities throughout Ohio. She supervised bringing All American Division 1 players to our schools for summer camps in Ohio in the Midwest Ohio Connections. She was trained in setting by Sheri Sanders, from Long Beach State, and assisted at the In Motion Clinics held in Ohio. Heidi has been married for 34 years and has her Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Heidi is a Leadership WEB Coordinator for Where Everyone Belongs (W.E.B.) which is a mentorship program to train our youth to be positive role models to help students succeed. Heidi is recognized as a five-time National Award Recipient for WhoÅ› Who in Americas Teachers, and is an Ohio Jennings Scholar recognizing the top 100 teachers in Ohio. Coach Heidi is excited to bring all of her leadership, coaching, culture-building, and teaching skills to Southwest as a club-wide skills coach and mentor.
